31.8.2011

Speaking during a meeting with a group of government officials and ordinary citizens from various social backgrounds on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged Muslims to return to their original Islamic identity. He added that Islamic Awakening in the region is the result of faith in Islam and reliance on God.

His Eminence said that Islamic Awakening in the region and the presence of the regional people on the scene in order to take control of their destiny is a very important and valuable experience in the history of Islam and reiterated: "The events that are happening in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Libya, Bahrain and certain other countries are decisive and fateful events for Muslim nations."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed: "If the willpower of Muslim nations overcomes those who try to interfere in Islamic countries, Muslim countries will have a progressiv e movement for a long time."

Ayatollah Khamenei added: "But if the world of arrogance and the leaders of global hegemony and Zionism - including the arrogant and oppressive US regime - manage to ride these waves and take management of the situation into their own hands, the world of Islam will definitely have to deal with big problems for decades."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that members of the Islamic Ummah, particularly prominent political and cultural figures of the world of Islam, have a very important responsibility at this sensitive stage, further stressing: "Today Islamic countries and Muslim nations have to go through a great test. Until today, nations were not so much aware of their capabilities. Today nations have come to know what power they have and how effective their willpower can be."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the resistance of the Iranian nation in the face of the pressure exerted by the arrogant powers - particular ly the sanctions and the military, political and security threats - is an example of how a nation can rely on its own capabilities to stand up against the enemy. He reiterated that the results of the 33-year resistance of the Iranian nation have become clear.

His Eminence said that the Iranian nation is a glorious, powerful and progressive nation with promising prospects, adding that the current historical stage is one of the most brilliant stages of Iran's history.

Leader urges Muslim nations to remain vigilant

31.8.2011

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has warned against plots hatched by enemies to hijack the Muslim world's achievements, urging Muslim nations to remain vigilant.

Nations in Muslim countries must be vigilant and cautious not to permit enemies to hijack their victories, said Ayatollah Khamenei in an address to massive crowds of worshippers during the Eid al-Fitr prayers at Tehran University on Wednesday.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to “big events” which have taken place in the Muslim world during the recent months and added that the world is going through an important chapter in its history at the current juncture.

Islamic Revolution Leader stated that Muslims are currently present in the scene and emphasized that the puppets of America and the Zionist regime are falling in the region “one after another.”

However, issues have not been settled; this is the start of a long path, the Islamic Revolution Leader pointed out.

He further expressed “deep concern” over the situation in Bahrain, saying promises to the oppressed Bahraini people are not fulfilled.

Ayatollah Khamenei also praised the Iranian nation for its high turnout in the International Quds Day rallies and noted that regional developments allowed other Muslim nations to massively participate in the anti-arrogance rallies.

He expressed hope that Palestine and the entire region would get rid of the cruel Zionists.

Ayatollah Khamenei further stressed the importance of strengthening unity among the Iranian officials and nation particularly as the country is gearing up for parliamentary elections in March.

"Elections have always been a relatively challenging issue," said Ayatollah Khamenei, urging the Iranian people to remain vigilant to thwart enemies' plans to misuse the issue of elections and to inflict damage on the people's security.

"Elections are the manifestation of religious democracy. However, enemies seek to misuse elections to harm the country," he stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the Iranian nation to safeguard elections which are a divine blessing.

Ayatollah Khamenei further expressed deep sorrow for the famine-hit people in Somalia and called on the Iranian nation and officials to provide Somalis with more relief aid.

Leader: sanctions cannot last long

28.8.2011

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and members of his cabinet Sunday evening.

The Leader emphasized that the enemy launched an all-out campaign to destroy the Iranian economy but their sanctions only reinvigorated the nation's sense of determination to achieve self-sufficiency, noting that “considering global realities, the long-term lasting of these sanctions is not possible.”

"The enemies were speaking of clever and crippling sanctions at the beginning of the year (March 2011); but not only they lacked any crippling impact, thanks to the prudence of Iranian officials and the nation, they rather led to extra vigor, self-sufficiency and major efforts in the country," said the Leader.

Lauding the huge turnout of people on Quds Day rallies on Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei went on to state that all-out presence of the Iranian nation on Quds Day demonstrations wo uld inspire the entire region and further motivate other nations to lend major support for Palestinian resistance against the Zionist regime.

Ayatollah Khamenei praised the government's commitment to principles and values of the Islamic Revolution and noted that seeking justice, resisting against global arrogance, leading simple lifestyles, combating aristocracy and extending honest public services were among the government's most attractive mottos.

"Principles and values declared by Imam Khomeini... have been among the most fundamental mottos to which the government has totally committed itself to," the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed out that the low-key role of academic and clerical scholars in the government was a problem and that the President and cabinet ministers should make further efforts to discuss government policy in various fields, particularly economic issues, with relevant scholars.

The Leader reiterated that criticism r aised by elite and scholarly circles should be welcomed, adding that the government should not be deprived of constructive critical views of Iranian scholars due to certain issues.

"While explaining your achievements and strengths, tell people frankly that you have not been able to do certain things and be sure that people will not take to task those who have tried to do something, but have failed," the Leader argued.

Underlining the need to correctly handle criticism of the government in mass media or legal centers, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the only correct approach to criticism was an explanatory one because hostility and counterattack will not get anywhere.

The Leader suggested to the government to set their priorities diligently and make serious efforts to meet them, adding, "Keeping commitments that government gives to people is both desirable and necessary as it strengthens public faith in the administration. Conversely, if such commitments are n ot kept, it would create uncertainties in public minds.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also stressed that economic jihad was a vital imperative that paves the way for economic progress and prosperity of the Islamic Republic.

The Leader also called for better cooperation among the three branches of the government.

Quds Day, time to shout rightful slogans

24.8.2011

Quds Day is a great international Islamic day in which the Iranian nation alongside other Muslim nations shouts the rightful slogans that the global oppression had been trying to keep mute for the past sixty years, Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Wednesday.

“The establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a political system followed by designation of the Quds Day and turning the Zionist regime’ Embassy in Tehran into the Embassy of Palestine were bold moves against sixty years of colonial plots aimed at the removal of Palestine from the world map," Ayatollah Khamenei told a large gathering of academics.

The Islamic Revolution Leader described the international day as a mainstay for the country’s security, adding that any Iranian who takes to streets on Quds Day actually contributes to security of his own country and achievements of the revolution.

The IR Leader expressed hope that in God's favor, the upcoming Quds Day (August 26) too would be held more gloriously than ever before both in Iran and other Islamic countries.

Ayatollah Khamenei in another part of his address referred to Iran's scientific achievements as one of the major pillars of the Iranian nation’s glorious resistance and grandeur against the global oppression.

“These scientific achievements grant the nation self confidence, prestige, will power, and bravery for resistance," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei touched on continued military, security, social, and political threats posed by the enemies against Iran as aimed to urge the Islamic system to bow before the global oppression system.

“The Iranian nation has been all the same resisting quite resolutely and, relying on the country’s scientific and practical advances, has strongly said no to the hegemony of the global expansionist and hegemonic powers," the IR Leader said.

The IR Leader considered promotion of anti-religion and anti-science tendencies as a major objective of the hegemonic powers, and, elaborating on the anti-science methods, he said the enemy seeks to keep Iranian professors and students busy with non-scientific activities, so that the Iranian nation’s dream would not come true.

Supreme Leader Meets Economic Experts

17.8.2011

Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with a group of economic experts from private and public sectors of the country. At the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need for increased efforts to realize the goals specified in the 20-Year Strategic Plan and added: "With the ineffective weapon of sanctions, the enemy is trying to bring the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic to their knees, but they will fail in this aggressive objective because of the economic jihad by our people and government officials. Being full of hope about the future, the Iranian nation will achieve the position it deserves."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: "One of the techniques that the enemies use in their psychological warfare in current conditions is to spread despair among the people, particularly the young generation of the country. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly inform the people about the amazing advances and capacities of the country."

His Eminence said that the camp of arrogance is trying to bring the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic to their knees through economic means, further adding that it is necessary to counter the enemy's plan through economic jihad.

"It is necessary to understand that economic jihad is in fact a purposeful move to counter the enemy's malevolent and hostile move."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the main goal of the sanctions is to cripple Iran's economy. He reiterated: "The nuclear issue is not the real reason behind these sanctions because they started imposing these sanctions 32 years ago when there was no mention of nuclear energy in the country."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need to counter the sanctions in a clever way and added: "If the sanctions were effective and helpful for the enemies, they would have helped the arrogant powers to realize their goals in the early years of the Revolution."

He added that the sanctions are ineffective in the current situation because the Iranian nation and government officials have learnt how to deal with them.

His Eminence said that circumventing the sanctions and utilizing domestic capabilities were among the successful techniques used by the Iranian nation and government officials to render the sanctions ineffective. He added that the Islamic Republic will continue countering the sanctions in an effective way.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed the need for realizing the goals specified in the 20-Year Strategic Plan and added that at the end of the plan Iran should be the top country in the region in important and vital areas. "Our regional rivals are working hard, and achieving the goals specified in the strategic plan requires more speed, more wisdom and a more disciplined movement. In fact, it requires economic jihad."

Ayatollah Khamenei said tha t being the top country in the region is a genuine and fateful need. He added: "In the current regional and global conditions, any country that fails to achieve sufficient growth in economy, science and infrastructures will be oppressed in a merciless way. Therefore, it is necessary to realize the goals specified in the strategic plan through domestic strength and economic progress."

His Eminence urged government officials to combat economic corruption and reiterated: "Fighting economic corruption is very important and it is an essential principle."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution highlighted the role of production and added that production is the basis of economy.

Elsewhere in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is necessary to regulate and control imports and reiterated: "In all conditions, it is necessary to take domestic production, especially agricultural products, into consideration. The justification that imports improve domestic competitiveness does not have a firm logical basis."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the growth in non-oil exports in recent years and added that non-oil exports should increase so much that Iran stops depending on oil revenues.

His Eminence described Iran's dependence on oil revenues as an economic problem and reiterated: "Freeing the economy of the country from oil revenues will prepare the ground for the power and progress of our nation and the Islamic Republic."

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with university students in Tehran on Wednesday, and warned against enemy schemes against the Islamic establishment in Iran.

He called for greater vigilance on the part of Iranian students.

The Leader also referred to the assassinations of Iranian scientists and said the perpetrator behind the murders seek to undermine Iran's scientific development.

He also said the Islamic Revolution in Iran is moving steadily ahead in its original path.

"The great revolution of the Iranian nation was created with definite objectives and, as an exception in history, keeps pursuing its goals and values without any deviation," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader stressed that Iran's Islamic Revolution has remained adamant to its causes more than three decades after the victory of the popular revolt as the real manifestation of the revolution's "stability and steadiness."

Ayatollah Khamenei juxtaposed the Islamic Revolution in Iran with the French and Russian revolutions and the independence of the United States, describing the latter ones as popular movements that gradually deviated from their original causes to exploit their nations.

Meeting a large group of Iranian students

(2011/08/10 - 22:10)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei told a large group of Iranian students Wednesday evening that students are future decision makers of the country and that they are responsible for keeping and perfecting the path of the Islamic Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei in the meeting elaborated on the fate of world revolutions, adding “The great revolution of the Iranian nation took shape with specific objectives and as an exception in history, the original objectives and values of the revolution have still been sought by the Iranian youth.”

Ayatollah Khamenei named Islamic nature, opposition to oppression, independence, homage to dignity of human being, defense of oppressed peoples, and comprehensive advance and development of Iran as major objectives of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. He said the Islamic Revolution relies on piety, belief, and sentiment of the people.

“This straight and bright path has been kept for 32 years without any deviation. The highly fresh reality is the real meaning of stability and perseverance of the revolution,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Iranian nation has displayed its resolute will in keeping its covenant with God, adding the praiseworthy resistance is a legacy of the past generation so that the jubilant and truthful young students, who have not seen the early time of the revolution and the era of Imam Khomeini (PBUH), still talk about the same ideals and demands as the ones kept by the past generation.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered the demands and viewpoints of the present day Iranian university students as more precise and technical than the former generation.

Ayatollah Khamenei elaborated on the progressive trend of the revolution during the past 32 years, saying that it was a main duty of the young university students to safeguard the blessed trend. “The youths and students today are future decision makers of the country. They are responsible for keeping and perfecting the path,” he said.

“They must prove the fact that for the fist time in the history of the various revolutions of the world, the Islamic Revolution has maintained the very same arguments, ideals, and values of its first days continually and ceaselessly, and would, God willing, achieve its ultimate goals,” the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered the will, bravery and thinking power of the present generation as a guarantee for the continuation of the revolution.

“The country that has reached this stage mightily and perseveringly and managed to become an ideal model for other Islamic communities, is putting the duty of keeping the path on the shoulders of you jubilant and determined generation,” Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.

Pointing to deviation of other revolutions in the world during the past few centuries and their eventual fate, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The Great Revolution of France was a sample of major world popular revolutions that took shape against imperial system of the time but deviated from its initial objectives gradually and eventually the imperialist system took charge in France again.”

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the independence of the United States and the establishment of that country as another example of the popular movements which in the course of time deviated from its original goals and got entangled in endless internal and external wars.

“The Soviet Revolution is another sample that had ideological foundations, but that revolution in the early years deviated from its initial objectives and the people were eliminated from political equations and the objectives of the revolution,” the IR Leader said.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that some semi-revolutions in the late 50s and early 60s in North African and Latin American countries too were examples of deviated revolutions.

“The Islamic Revolution however has been an exception throughout the past few hundred years because it has managed to pursue its initial objectives and fundamentals evermore joyously and solidly,” the IR Leader appreciated.

Ayatollah Khamenei then gave some advices to the students, including divide responsibilities and pursue a general scheme and not ignore the enemies of the revolution that act in group. “If the goal is thoroughly comprehended by university organizations it would assist them greatly in pursuing their revolutionary duties,” the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the global oppression was seeking to promote corrupt activities in the society and the ploy must be wisely countered.

The IR Leader also urged against imitating the western-style human sciences, emphasizing, “The foundations of our thoughts differ from the foundations of the materialist thoughts and therefore imitating the western human sciences can not be of any help for solving any of our problems.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said in human sciences others must be followed as long as it helps broaden the Iranian knowledge and thinking capability but those sciences must be indigenized.
