Enemy maintaining a long term project

(2010/10/26)

□Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei told a large gathering of university students in Qom city Tuesday that enemies have definitely been maintaining a long term plan against Islam and the Islamic Revolution, adding that there are evidence several political upheavals in the country in the past, including those of 1999 and 2009, were outcomes of such long term projects.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the 2009 post-elections incidents helped the enemy to refurbish its projects and that the enemy had apparently taken each and every necessary precaution when it came to deal with the political sedition so as to meet its malicious goals however in God's favor, they lost to a vigilant, stand-by nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the world bullies appear to never get frustrated unlike their back to back defeats and for the same reason the Islamic establishment and the Iranian nation should put a long term strategic mas ter plan in place to counter their ploys.

The IR Leader added that acquisition of religious and political insight would be the part and parcel of any such strategic planning, adding that religious insight would be acquired thorough a monotheistic view of the world under which the world embodies a purposeful system and human is supposed to live a purposeful life.

"Through the monotheistic view, life becomes gracious and meaningful while frustration turns pale knowing the fact that God would award any act of human being," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"In contrast, the materialistic view of the world leads up to a loss of substantial purposes in human life as it defines life as accomplishment of joy or personal benefits and thereby triggers frustration in those who fail to get such aims," the IR Leader added.

As for political insight, Ayatollah Khamenei invoked several quotes from Nahj al-Bilaqa, the renowned quotes book of Imam Ali (A.S.) and said that by political insight, it was meant to get an accurate grasp of political developments and appraise them in a precise manner.

Ayatollah Khamenei then recounted the Siffin incident in 657 when Muawiya ordered his soldiers to fix copies of Koran on the points of their lances in a successful trick to fool the army of Imam Ali (A.S.). "In that incident, some failed to grasp the realities on the ground and closed their eyes to crystal clear truths," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader made a parallel between the seventh century incident and the last year's post election upheavals, saying that in the latter, some individuals mistakenly and in absence of political insight claimed a fraud.

"They were required to provide evidence and pursue their claim though a lawful way but they failed. Even after an extension of legal deadline for election complaints and an overture call on the complainants to send their delegates to watch over a recount of votes, they refused to follow the path of law and helped ma ke it clear they are in breach of law," Ayatollah Khamenei regretted.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that it was not difficult to judge their conduct and that anyone who contravenes the law or the national interests shall be condemned if fairly judged.

Ayatollah Khamenei then warned about an enemy project to blacken the country's atmosphere and distort realities concerning the country's progressive development, adding that the Iranian youths are supposed to get a precise grasp of realities and furnish their surrounding with a neat political insight into the developments.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said the enemy applied complex methods to mislead the masses, including by a tailored blend of true and false information "which is regrettably duplicated inside the country by some individuals, either knowingly or inadvertently."

Ayatollah Khamenei noted however that sometimes some individuals might know the realities but fail to point them out due to a lack of will on their part whic h might be bred by one of carnal desires, personal interests, stubbornness or pursuit of convenience.

The IR Leader in the same regard added that some individuals who at present run afar from the path of Islamic Revolution and serve anti-revolutionists were once radical revolutionists however they suffered the turnaround due to ignorance of God and negligence of duty.

He also urged the revolutionary youths to distinguish between dissidents and those suffering from such negligence.

Ayatollah Khamenei then lauded the youths of Qom province for their sophisticated treatment of a smart enemy scheme early in the 1979 revolution where the enemy sought to process an antithesis out of the Qom city, the very hub of revolution, so as to present it as an anti-revolution center but failed after the youths got an accurate analysis of the situation.

"The enemy replicated the scheme once more in Qom after the demise of Imam Khomeini but to no avail, again due to vigilance of the youths ," Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated.

Ayatollah Khamenei then turned to a discussion of tragic outcomes of the western approach to human life, saying that those who once claimed they sought to bring welfare and calm to human have abused and abuse their technologically-driven power and wealth to commit such crimes historically rare.

"The realities on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan show that the western domineering powers are actually enemy of human being," the IR Leader added.

The Iranian nation however seeks to tread an otherwise path, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that the nation would keep on the blessed path until it accomplishes all the objectives of Islam and Islamic Revolution.

Scholars urged to reproduce Islamic teachings

(2010/10/25)

-Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Monday recommended the theologians to reproduce the lofty Islamic teachings to keep up with progress of science and technology.

Islamic Revolution Leader made the remarks in a meeting with a group of non-Iranian clerics residing and studying in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that acquaintance of world nations with the lofty teachings of Islam will bring them independence, identity, dignity, progress, freedom and authority for the Islamic Ummah.

"The Islamic Revolution from the early stage campaigned for salvation from arrogance and by triumph of the Islamic Revolution, the Muslim nations in the East and West felt the enlivening message and opening of a new way ahead."

"The theological students from about 100 countries are studying in the holy city of Qom which have prepared grounds for acquaintance of world nations with the Isla mic Republic of Iran," Islamic Revolution Leader said.

The Islamic Revolution is not a mere political institution to be exported to other parts of the world through political or military means, said the Leader adding that Iran has dismissed the wrong idea from export of revolution since the beginning.

"The foreign theological students in Qom should spare no effort to attain scientific and educational knowledge as Islamic teachings will capture the heart of devoted people," he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is about 200 years that the colonial and arrogance apparatus are striving to humiliate and ignore the Muslim nations but the Islamic Revolution revived historical concepts as dignity, justice, resistance and Islamic identity in the mind of Islamic Ummah.

"Patience and resistance were among the messages of Almighty God to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the late Imam Khomeini followed the same message in the course of the movement of the Iranian nation since 1963 which culminated in 1979."

"The Late Imam Khomeini strongly promoted the Islamic teachings and never hesitated to deal with existing problems and difficulties, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that in the past 30 years since victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation stood against the western economic sanctions and made them ineffective.

Islamic Revolution Leader said that foreign theological students in Qom are the core of the International Scientific-Islamic Society who should seize this great opportunity to carry out their divine duties.

'Knowledge main pillar of seminaries'

2010/10/25

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said knowledge is the real identity of seminaries, urging compliance with the perquisites of such a knowledge-based context.

"The main pillar of seminaries is based on knowledge and therefore the seminary should be in conformity with "knowledge-oriented" requirements, said Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with scholars, clerics and students of Qom's seminaries on Sunday.

Islamic Revolution Leader added that seminaries should welcome questions and doubtful challenges over various issues and said that such an approach would show the consistency of seminaries to their knowledge-based identity.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that all "knowledge-oriented" bodies, including seminaries, should openly face challenging questions.

Islamic Revolution Leader referred to very serious and challenging arguments throughout the history of the seminaries and said, "This v aluable approach should be maintained in different fields.”

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance of promoting free thinking in seminaries, saying, "Free thinking is the result of a knowledge-based mind and prejudice in the field of knowledge is meaningless."

Islamic Revolution Leader described as a big accusation certain remarks about the lack of a free atmosphere for criticism in seminaries and said people of thought and contemplation are free to express their views and thoughts in all fields.

Ayatollah Khamenei said opposing the suppression of views has always been an admirable tradition in seminaries and emphasized, "Seminaries should not use thoughtless ways to reject opposing views.”

"You should face false opinions with firmness and prudence," Ayatollah Khamenei further explained.

Islamic Revolution Leader noted that education in seminaries should be based on thought, research and study, and welcomed modern methods in teaching and the production of science.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the hostility of arrogant powers, particularly the US and the Zionist regime, towards the spreading of religion and stated, "Measures such as the offensive cartoons of the holy Prophet and the burning of the Holy Qur'an show the deep evil nature of the enemies of Islam."

"Seminaries cannot keep silent on such enmities and will take a vigilant stance on arrogant powers," Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized.

Islamic Revolution Leader also urged the religious elite to draw up strategies for the educational, cultural and social development of Iran.

Enemies lagging behind fast advancing Iran

(2010/10/24)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei told a large gathering of Basij forces Sunday in Qom city that enemies of the Islamic Republic appear to be lagging behind the fast advancing Iranian nation and thereby they resort to massive propaganda to play down the recent magnificent advances of the Islamic Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted however that unlike the desire of the enemies, the Iranian nation would continue the irreversible progress towards a bright future.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the Basij as a divinely assisted phenomenon which took shape out of thought and practice of the unparalleled personality of the contemporary history, Imam Ruhollah Mousawi Khomeini "who used to believe in the might of God and in the same mood, he trusted people until the Islamic Revolution incredibly got victory after people took to the scene."

The IR Leader said the Basij must live up to three requirements, namely acqui sition of political insight, sincerity and timely and adequate practice. Ayatollah Khamenei lauded the public force for promoting its ability and insight amid complicated enemy ploys, particularly during the last year's seditious upheavals.

The IR Leader in the same regard noted that personalities are not a safe stand to rely upon in discerning or identifying the truth rather there have been times when even distinguished figures have gone astray. "Truth can be discerned and identified by insight," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Islamic Revolution Leader then quoted Imam Khomeini as saying that if he had abandoned Islam, people would have turned their back to him, and by the quote, he concluded that Islam provides the parameter for distinguishing the truth from the falsehood.

Ayatollah Khamenei identified sincerity as another code of conduct for Basij, adding that sincerity has been achieved one an individual only seeks the satisfaction of God, free from any personal, partisa n, or familial reservations.

Ayatollah Khamenei added: "One of the ways of understanding issues correctly is to see what program and agenda the enemy follows."

"Today, one of the main lines of the enemy's agenda within the soft war is to show the country's realities upside down," he said.

Referring to the enemy's broad propaganda to show the real scene of Islamic Iran inverted, the IR Leader stressed: "This shows the enemy's weakness and their failure in front of the great and speedy movement of the nation."

"Of course, this propaganda has increased in recent years because the officials and the government have pursued the slogans of the Revolution more strictly and seriously; and the line of Imam and Islamic Revolution and working for people is much more remarkable," he added.

Regarding foreign policy, he said that opponents of the Islamic system and some masters of the last year's sedition once said amid election campaigns that Iran had become debased and disreputab le while today the reputation of the Islamic Republic of Iran among the world's nations not only has not declined but also has increased.

The IR Leader considered the unique welcome of the Lebanese people to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran as an example of this reality, stressing: "This magnificent welcome will not take place for any president of a country anywhere in the world."

"Today if the prominent officials of the Islamic system visit any Islamic country and the atmosphere is left open for people, a welcome similar to that of the Lebanese people will take place," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He regarded these issues as grandeur and dignity of the Iranian nation, adding: "If the government was a government cut off from people and was not supported by millions of determined youths, definitely such an event would not happen in Lebanon."

"The unstoppable movement of the Iranian nation in the line of Islam and Quran promises a bright and progressive future for the Islamic Iran and this issue will affect the Islamic world and cause further awakening of Muslim nations," the IR Leader said.

Leader acknowledges key role of seminaries

(2010/10/23)

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with the head and members of the Teachers' Society of Qom Religious Seminary on Saturday morning said the Teachers' Society is a deep-rotten body which did its duties and moved in the path of the late Imam Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution.

IR Leader pointed to the background of jihad and struggles of the Teachers' Society of Qom Religious Seminary during the Pahlavi era and said," The cause behind some efforts to remove the Teachers' Society during the first years of the victory of the Islamic Revolution was resistance of the Society in the path of the Father of the Islamic Republic, Hazrate Imam Khomeini."

Ayatollah Khamenei added that struggles of the Teachers' Society had a significant role in the victory of the Islamic Republic.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined for effectiveness of the Teachers' Society among the nation and said ," One of the main duties of the Teachers' Society is keeping contact with the great Alims and religious authorities because the Society is the source of honorable religious scholars and some of the Alims are members of the Society."

Ayatollah Khamenei urged for more relation with the nation especially finding new methods of relation and creation of innovation room as other issues for the Teachers' Society of Qom Religious Seminary and said," The Teachers' Society should accept and innovative scholars and Alims and form a strong body and use their viewpoints and ideas in different issues."

Ayatollah Khamenei urged for formation of an aware group of clerics to block different deviations in cultural and art affairs.

Islamic Revolution Leader added such group should be completely authorized to manage the programs in a correct direction in the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that Education is a significant issue which the seminari es should deal with.

Islamic Revolution Leader said the seminaries as heart of the Shia scholars can create high capacity for the Islamic system in media and educational affairs.

Seminaries should make Islamic theories available to world

(2010/10/21)

Islamic Revolution Leader in a meeting with seminaries' scholars, Alims and managers of religious seminaries in the holy city of Qom explained different aspects of reform in the religious seminaries and revealed the enemies' tactics for weakening the Islamic system and isolating seminaries and religious scholars.

Describing Qom as the main center of Ahl ul-Beit teachings, he also said that it plays an active role in promoting vigilance and insight among Muslims.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged vigilance against misleading concepts spread by the enemies, which aim at causing division among the Iranian nation.

"They want to deprive the establishment of the Islamic Republic of the vast intellectual, rational and logical support of clerics, and isolate and tarnish the reputation of the revolutionary clerics. We should vigilantly counter these plots," Ayatollah Khamenei said added.

The Islamic Revolution Leader referred to governmental clergymen and government of clergymen as two misleading concepts which form part of the enemies' propaganda against Iran.

"The Shia clergy, in its totality, has always been an essential part of social and political developments, and therefore has an influence and depth like no other Islamic and non-Islamic clerical body," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said calling the Islamic Republic a government of clerics is a blatant lie and stressed that the Islamic establishment is the rule of religion and religious values, not the rule of clergymen.

"In the Islamic establishment, being a clergyman is not enough for receiving governmental responsibilities, because being a clergyman alone does not guarantee competence, just as it does not

negate it," Islamic Revolution Leader added.

"The Islamic system is in need of support of Alims and religious seminaries. Regarding Islamic identity of the Islamic Republic, it is the duties of th e Alims to make the Islamic theories available to the world," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Islamic Revolution Leader underlined that ignoring new Islamic theories would pave tha way for penetration of Western theories into the seminaries.

Ayatollah Khamenei named the seminaries especially the Qom seminary as the mother of the Islamic system adding that the common approach between the seminaries and the system is mutual support and cooperation.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution called on the religious authorities and thinkers to make plans for changes as an inevitable issue.

Ayatollah Khamenei also underlined that the lack of religion theories will leave the ground for western theories. Seminaries and scholars should make the Islamic theories available to the officials so that they make plans on the basis of Islamic premises.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to the necessity for dynamism of the Qom Religious Seminary in the world and said," The religion would hit if the religious scholars act passively and the issue is opposed to the scholars' philosophy".

"Of course the activities of seminaries would increase enmities but if we become awareness, the enmities will be changed into opportunities and remove ambiguities," Leader of the Islamic Revolution added.

Explaining that positive and correct reforms are different from incorrect and deviation ones, Ayatollah Khamenei said," Some figures issue fatwa in the favor of arrogant powers."

"It is not wrong if some scholars issue different fatwas based on correct method because it would bring new developments to seminaries," IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei recalled religious seminaries for active presence in the international fields including philosophy, jurisprudence and theology and said," Seminaries should present firm and reasonable responses to different issues regarding different religious ideas."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the youth of the country as pure-hearted and said that they are ready to make sacrifices, just as the youth who were present during the early stages of the Revolution did.

Enemy has targeted public faith, loyalty

(2010/10/19)

slamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Tuesday that Iran's revolution of 1979 has been driven by faith in God, adding that enemies of the Islamic Republic have been exhausting all their possibilities to undermine the religious side of the revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei was speaking to multitudes of faithful people in Qom city on a landmark visit to the Islamic shrine city.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the religious city has historically been a hub of political insight, most recently in emergence and victory of the Islamic Revolution (1979), and has served the world of Islam as a headspring of teachings of Ahl ul-Beit (A.S.), especially through its acclaimed religious school or Hoza Elmia.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the world bullies have both targeted the public faith and loyalty of people to the revolution in their malicious schemes against the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that revolutionary authorities would have given in to enemy pressures unless there was the element of religion in the revolutionary structure.

"Islam never allows one to surrender to oppressors and thereby helps achieve justice, freedom, spirituality and advance. For the same reason, the revolutionary authorities have never surrendered to the world arrogance and would continue their campaign against the enemies," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader then touched on different conspiracies of the international force of arrogance against Islamic teachings. "The enemies of Islam have already embarked on several aborted trials including the Salman Rushdi's ploy, anti-Islamic movies, the blasphemous cartoons and the Koran burning tragedy," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that inside Iran, the enemies seek to undermine the faith of people, especially the youths'.

The Islamic Revolution Leader said the enemies have also targeted the public loyalty as they have found that besides the element of religion, t he authorities continue to be encouraged by the people's solid presence in social and political fields.

In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the enemies seek to dent the public loyalty through spreading of malicious rumors against the authorities as well as downplaying of current advances and accomplishments.

The IR Leader added however that all those conspiracies are doomed to failure and would bear no fruit for the enemies the same way they have failed for the past 32 years.

Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that the 40-million ballot turnout in the presidential elections last year was a positive referendum of loyalty for the Islamic system, adding that a raging enemy tried to torpedo the national presence through a seditious scheme nonetheless it failed once again in the face of public perseverance.

The IR Leader said the people's vigilance during the past year's enemy-incited upheavals helped vaccinate the country and the people themselves against social and political germs. "Against the enemy's will, the post election sedition promoted political insight among the people," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei then warned about enemy seditions in separating religion and politics, adding that the enemy has realized how the representatives of Islam might prove helpful in awakening the people against outsider plots.

Concerning the current intensified sanctions against Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian nation has already endured such similar sanctions and thereby knows how to outsmart them and for the same reason, the most recent sanctions, which aimed to dispirit people about the Islamic system, proved of little use for the enemy.

Ayatollah Khamenei then urged both people and the authorities to follow several goals as prerequisites for keeping the revolution robust as ever. They included unity, promotion of faith notably among the youth, promotion of political insight, and pursuit of speedier scientific growth.

The IR Leader ended his remarks by highlighting the national and international position of Qom city, saying that the existence of the most prominent Islamic seminary (Hoza Elmia) besides numerous pilgrimage locations have brought ample capacities for the city.

(2010/10/18)

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the political interests of certain powers lie in creating insecurity in Iraq.

Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Monday morning said despite relative stability in Iraq, the country is still suffering from insecurity and part of this insecurity is resulted from the pressures that are exerted by some powers whose political interests lie in creating insecurity in Iraq.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the swift formation of government and the restoration of security in Iraq are the country's two major issues, calling all Iraqi officials to spare no efforts to form government as soon as possible.

The Iraqi premier, for his part, described his country's relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran as strategic and amicable, urging the necessity of expansion of Iran-Iraq cooperation.

Supreme Leader's Message to 19th National Prayer Conference

(2010/10/13)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

The creation of an entity called "mosque" - first in Quba and then in Medina - is among the most exquisite and meaningful innovations of Islam at the beginning of the formation of an Islamic community: The house of God and the house of people, the solitude of a close relationship with God and the companionship provided through socializing with people, the center for remembrance of God and spiritual ascension, the center for science, jihad and management of material affairs, the place for worshipping and a center for politics. These are all interrelated pairs which portray the image of the Islamic mosque and illustrate the gap that exists between the Islamic mosque and worship centers of other religions. In the Islamic mosque, the enthusiasm and joy of pure worship is mixed with the enthusiasm of a healthy, pure and rational life and brings society closer to its Islamic standard . The mosque is the manifestation of the union of the world and the hereafter and the union of individuals and society in Islamic ideology.

Based on this view our hearts beat for mosques and are filled with enthusiasm and sense of responsibility. Today we are not short of individuals - in our mosques - who can present a view of this glorious and impressive image. The presence of our pure-hearted youth and conscious and sympathetic teachers and clergy has truly made mosques the center for remembrance of God, worshipping, thought and knowledge and has evoked beloved and precious memories in our hearts. However, before this duty is fulfilled in a perfect manner, none of us can ignore the danger which threatens society, youth, families and future generations as a result of shortage of mosques or the shortcomings which exist in mosques. Nor can we deprive ourselves of the great blessings which Islamic mosques present to society and the Islamic Republic.

Construction of mosques and the presence of qualified clergy in them is the most important point. Currently, despite the existence of thousands of mosques across the country, there is room for thousands more in villages, cities, satellite towns and residential complexes. Easy access to mosques is an urgent need for our faithful people, youth and teenagers. A pious, intellectual, expert and sympathetic cleric in a mosque is the spirit of the mosque - just as doctors and nurses are the spirit of a hospital. Prayer leaders should prepare themselves to provide moral remedies and consider this an essential duty. And the centers in charge of dealing with the affairs of mosques and Islamic seminaries should provide aid to prayer leaders in all situations.

Mosques should be a place for teaching Quranic exegesis and hadith, a pulpit for promoting social and political principles and a center for preaching and promotion of ethics. Through their kindness, the custodians, managers and trustees of mosques should a ttract the pure hearts of the youth and instill enthusiasm into them. The presence of youth with basiji spirits should fill the atmosphere of mosques with dynamism, enthusiasm, hope and foresight. There should be well-defined and appropriate cooperation between mosques and educational centers in all areas. It would be very appropriate if prayer leaders commended prominent students of every area in mosques and in front of the people.

Mosques should preserve a strong and continuing relationship with the youth who get married, with people who make scientific, social, artistic and sports achievements, with benevolent people who make efforts to provide aid to other people, with grief-stricken people who are in need of sympathy and even with newly-born infants. In every neighborhood and area, mosques should be the source of benevolence and grace. In particular, mosques should not cause discomfort or trouble for people living in their neighborhood. Producing irritating sounds during nig ht time and when people are resting is an inappropriate act which is at times against the laws of sharia. The only sound which should be produced by mosques is the sound of adhan [call to prayer] recited in a pleasant voice.

Reconstruction of mosques and paying attention to their spiritual and physical adornment is a duty which lies on the shoulders of all people. And everybody should fulfill their duty in this regard as much as they can. The people, municipalities and government organizations should all play their role in this regard. Wise, responsible and pious clergy can and must act as the axis of this holy effort.

I pray to Allah the Exalted to bestow success on everyone. I also pray to God to bestow a long life, continued enthusiasm and increasing success on Hojjatoleslam wal Muslemeen Aghaye Qara'ati who is a mujahid and devoted cleric.

Greetings be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings

Sayyid Ali Khamenei
